【摘要】:Thispracticeisintendedtoevaluatechangesintheperformanceofionexchangeresinsusedinmixedbedsoperatingaspolishingsystemsforsolutionsoflowionicstrength,typically,x003C;10mg/Ldissolvedsolids,thatareintendedtoproduceveryhighpurityeffluents.Itisrecommendedthatwhennewresinsareinstalledinaplantitbeusedtoprovideabaselineagainstwhichthefutureperformanceofthatresincanbejudged.Theconditionsofthistestmustbelimitingkinetically,suchthatkineticleakage,andnotequilibriumleakage,istested.Thisleakageisinfluencedbyacombinationofinfluentflowvelocityandconcentration,aswellasbeddepth.Itisrecommendedthatthepracticebefollowedwiththeresinratio,flowrate,andinfluentqualityasindicated.Thedesignoftheapparatuspermitsothervariationstobeusedthatmaybemoreappropriatetothechemicalsusedinaspecificplantandthenatureofitscoolingwater,butthecautionsandlimitationsnotedinthepracticemustbeaccommodated.Itispossiblethatthecationresincouldexperiencekineticsproblems.Inmanycases,however,theanionresinsaremorelikelytoexperiencethetypesofdegradationorfoulingthatcouldleadtoimpairedkinetics.Testingoffieldanionandcationresinstogetherisanoption,especiallywhenhistoricdataonthemixedbedwillbecompiled.Recognize,however,thatmanyvariablescanbeintroduced,makingitdifficulttointerpretresultsortocomparetohistoricalornewresindataonseparatecomponents.ProvisionismadeforcalculationofthemasstransfercoefficientintheAppendixX1.Whensuchcalculationistobemade,afullwetsieveanalysis,asdescribedinTestMethodsD2187,alsoisrequired.Electronicparticlesizingmaybesubstitutedifitisreferencedbacktothewetsievemethod.Thispracticeisintendedtosupplement,notdisplace,otherindicatorsofresinperformance,suchasexchangecapacity,%regeneration,andserviceexperiencerecords.1.1Thispracticeisintendedtoevaluatechangesinkineticperformanceofionexchangeresinsusedinmixedbedstoproducehighpuritywater.Withinstrictlimitations,italsomaybeusedforcomparingresinofdifferenttypes.Thisstandarddoesnotseektomimicactualoperatingconditions.Specificchallengesolutionsandconditionsarespecified.Attheoptionoftheuser,otherconditionsmaybetested.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
